Introduction

Sim Pet App is a unique application created by my team and I. It uses AR technology to simulate pets in reality, helping users understand the situation after raising pets in advance, and fully understand the challenges of raising pets

Problem Explored

AR stands for Augmented Reality. It is a technology that allows computer-generated virtual objects or information to be superimposed onto the real-world environment, typically viewed through a device's camera, such as a smartphone or tablet.

AR Technology

People who have just started or are planning to keep a pet, but don’t know what challenges they will face after owning a pet.

Whose Problem

During the design process of the Sim Pet App, we realized that users have a strong preference for simple and intuitive interface design. However, we are faced with a challenging task, that is, how to ensure that the interface is concise and clear for users to understand and operate easily while maintaining the richness of application functions. 


We hope that by simplifying the interface, users can focus on the interaction with the virtual pet without being disturbed by too many complicated functions. This requires us to give full play to our creativity and find a balance point so that the user experience is still rich in simplicity.

Challenge

To meet the challenges of interface design, we conducted multiple rounds of design optimization and user testing from the perspective of users.

  • First of all, we carefully plan the functional layout of the application, put the core interaction and functions in a prominent position, and avoid too many menu levels, so that users can directly find the functions they need.

  • Second, we emphasized visual simplicity and contrast, using bright font colors to remind users of core functions.

Solution

Final Design

  • A simulation app combined with AR technology.

  • Allow users to experience what it's like to care for a pet without actually having one.

  • Be helpful for individuals who are considering getting a pet but want to know what it's like to take care of one before making a commitment.

  • Downloaded through App store or Google play.

Sim Pet App

By overcoming the challenge of interface design, we designed a simple and clear interface to make it easier and more enjoyable for users to use Sim Pet App, allowing them to focus on the interaction and experience with the virtual pet.

 

This project made us deeply realize that simple design can not only improve user satisfaction but also better convey the core value of the product.

Achievements

The design journey of the Sim Pet App is a process of innovation and learning. By solving interface design challenges, we appreciate the importance of clean design.

 

We hope that through this application, more people can experience the fun and challenges of raising pets before the real world, and provide a more comprehensive understanding and guidance for raising pets.

 

This project is not only a part of our design work but also the result of our continuous pursuit of user needs and experience.

Vision

  • In order to meet the above design challenges, I designed the wristband navigation function to help students quickly find the target classroom and avoid the embarrassment of getting lost. 

  • Secondly, the wristband is used to sign in on the table, which is convenient for students to record their attendance, and at the same time provides the function of viewing course information to ensure that students enter the correct classroom.

  • Finally, students can receive important messages to students such as "I am here" through the wristband.

Pets are closely related to our lives. Many people have pets, and more newcomers have also tried to take the initiative to have their first pet. However, many people have not carefully considered how having a pet will change their lives before getting one, which may result in them eventually abandoning their pets when unexpected problems arise.
